New ‘Patriots Day' Trailer Depicts Frantic Search for Boston Marathon Bomber

Mark Wahlberg, John Goodman, Kevin Bacon and J.K. Simmons take center stage in the latest trailer  from "Patriots Day,' which recounts the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing and the hunt for bombers Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and Tamerlan Tsarnaev.

The film, in which Wahlberg portrays a fictional composite representing the actions of several police officers in the aftermath of the bombing, was directed by "Friday Night Lights" director Peter Berg.

Peter Berg, director of “Lone Survivor,” “Friday Night Lights” and the upcoming “Patriots Day” which gives an account of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, talks about “The Warfighters,” a History Channel docuseries on Iraq War veterans premiering on Veterans Day.

Berg, who most recently produced "The Warfighters," a History Channel docuseries on Iraq War veterans which premiered on Veterans Day, said he met with several family members of those caught in the bomb's blast and took special care to tell their stories accurately.

"I'm drawn to stories about people behaving under extreme duress and finding courage and heroism of some sort," Berg said. "The way Boston responded to that horrific bombing was similar to the way New York responded to 9/11... to the way Nice responded and how Paris and Tampa have responded. It's unfortunate that it's becoming the new reality in the world that we live in," Berg said.

"These are people who were just enjoying a marathon on a beautiful day with their families and they were blown up. But they got back up and they took care of each other and they loved each other and they supported each other," Berg said.
