Ellen DeGeneres was able to interview herself - in a way - when "Saturday Night Live" player Kate McKinnon brought her spot-on impersonation of the host to Wednesday's episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."

A huge fan of McKinnon's all-dancing, chair-hovering version of herself, DeGeneres invited the comedian to appear on the daytime chatfest as a guest.

"It's been such a journey. I'm trying not to cry because I have loved you my whole life, truly," a visibly awed McKinnon reveals to DeGeneres during the first part of her appearance on the show. "My mother has come up with schemes to try to meet you. I used to paint, I was an oil painter, and she would always say, 'If you would just paint a portrait of Ellen and send it to her, I'm sure that she would have you as a guest on the show. I don't know why you don't just paint a portrait.' I never did and I don't know why. I guess it's because I was meant to appear in a different capacity on the show."

DeGeneres was equally impressed to be meeting the woman behind the doppelganger, saying "I feel the same way about you. I’m excited to meet you. And it’s your very first talk show too." To which McKinnon replies, "It’s my very first time but that’s not even what makes this exciting. It’s like I've met Jesus. If you believe in that sort of thing…I’ve arrived at the gates and here you are."

If simply meeting DeGeneres wasn't enough, McKinnon is then handed an outfit identical to the host's and briefly exits before returning - dancing of course - as the titular star of the show.
