March 2016 Movie Guide: ‘Batman v Superman,' ‘Zootopia,' ‘Allegiant' and Another ‘Big Fat Greek Wedding'

The big releases – including "London Has Fallen," "Zootopia" and "Batman v Superman" – heading to a screen near you in March.

Blockbuster season no longer corresponds with warm weather and summer vacations. Early spring delivers a fresh bunch of big name stars and big name franchises to cinemas across the nation.

Check out these titles scheduled to hit screens in March. 

"London Has Fallen" (Mar 4)

President Asher (Aaron Eckhart) has been kidnapped while in London. It falls to Secret Service agent Banning (Gerard Butler) to track down the terrorists and bring POTUS home. A sequel to the 2013 action hit 'Olympus Has Fallen," "London" also features Morgan Freeman (returning as Vice President Trumball) and Angela Bassett. [[370943881,C]]

"Whiskey Tango Foxtrot" (Mar 4)

Tina Fey plays Kim Barker, a cable news producer who decides to throw caution to the wind and shake up her life by taking a correspondent posting in Kabul, Afghanistan. There she meets hardened reporter Tanya Vanderpoel (Margot Robbie) who takes Barker under her wing. Based on the real-life story of former Chicago Tribune reporter Barker, the dramedy also stars Martin Freeman, Billy Bob Thornton, Alfred Molina and Christopher Abbott. [[370944561,C]]

"Zootopia" (Mar 4)

In this anthropomorphic delight, animals have put their natural instincts aside to live harmoniously in a world very similar to ours. Judy (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) is a country bunny who becomes the first rabbit police officer in the city of Zootopia. Assigned to parking-ticket duty by her boss (Idris Elba), Judy meets Nick (Jason Bateman), a hustling fox who joins forces with the rabbit to solve the missing-mammal epidemic. [[370945881,C]]

"The Brothers Grimsby" (Mar 11)

Separated as children, dimwitted Nobby (Sacha Baron Cohen) has spent 28 years wondering what happened to his long-lost brother Sebastian (Mark Strong). "10 Cloverfield Lane" (Mar 11)

J.J. Abrams produced this science fiction thriller as a successor to his 2008 found-footage monster film "Cloverfield." After surviving a car accident, a woman (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) wakes up in an underground cellar, abducted by an apparent survivalist (John Goodman. "Eye In the Sky" (Mar 11)

Helen Mirren plays Katherine Powell, a British colonel in command of a top secret drone operation to capture terrorists in Kenya. Also starring the late Alan Rickman, Aaron Paul, Barkhad Abdi and Iain Glen, the film presents multiple views on the realities of war in the modern military arena. [[370947371,C]]

"Hello, My Name Is Doris" (Mar 11)

"The Divergent Series: Allegiant" (Mar 18)

Tris (Shailene Woodley) returns in this penultimate installment in the YA book-to-big-screen adaption of author Veronica Roth's "Divergent" series. "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" (Mar 25)

It's the ultimate crossover in today's juggernaut superhero movie realm: The Dark Knight battling the Man of Steel, with a Wonder Woman cameo thrown in for good measure. Henry Cavill dons the blue tights for his second outing as Superman as Ben Affleck makes his debut as Batman. "My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2" (Mar 25)

Nia Vardalos returns as Toula in this sequel to the 2002 comedy hit which follows the feel-good antics of the Portokalos family. Toula and her husband Ian (John Corbett) long for some quality time alone now that daughter Paris (Elena Kampouris) has reached her teenage years.
