Megan Fox Replacing Zooey Deschanel on ‘New Girl'

The "New Girl" loft is getting a new roommate: Megan Fox.

The actress is set to guest on the Fox comedy while star Zooey Deschanel is out on maternity leave. But don't worry, she's not replacing Jess—Fox will be playing a new character named Reagan who sublets the teacher's room while she's sequestered on jury duty.

The new addition is a pharmaceutical rep in town on business, and will first appear in episode six of the new season, which is set to debut in 2016. The original "New Girl" crew taped five episodes after wrapping season four to prepare for the absence of their leading lady.

"It's insane to me that such a gorgeous person can be so funny, but I guess we just all have to accept it," creator Liz Meriwether said of Fox in a statement. "I've been a fan of her comedic skills since
"This Is 40," and I'm so excited to have her on the show. We had Megan in mind when we wrote this part—she's the perfect person to come in and shake these guys up."

With Damon Wayans Jr.'s Coach moving out in the season four finale, that left Jess, Nick (Jake Johnson), Schmidt (Max Greenfield), and Winston (Lamorne Morris) sharing the loft. But that living situation might not last long now that Schmidt and Cece (Hannah Simone) are back together—and engaged.

"New Girl" is set to premiere in January of 2016 with an uninterrupted run of episodes.
