WATCH: Jimmy Fallon Swaps Seats With Monty Python's John Cleese on “Tonight”

It all started with the coconuts.

“The Tonight Show” got infinitely sillier on Thursday night, as Jimmy Fallon welcomed Monty Python — Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin, Terry Jones, Eric Idle and John Cleese — to Studio 6B.

The famously irreverent, mostly British sketch comedy troupe is celebrating the 40th anniversary of their (equally irreverent) classic movie, “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” Idle graciously bestowed Fallon with the first-ever Python Award (a coconut, naturally).

But when Cleese got upset with his spot next to Gilliam, the gracious host decided to swap seats, and roles. Cleese picked up Fallon’s notes, and Fallon talked “Holy Grail" trivia ahead of their appearance at the Tribeca Film Festival on Friday night.

“We couldn’t afford real coconuts,” Fallon said, affecting a British accent that veered closer to Beatle than Python. “And it was sort of funny because Terry didn’t even know. Terry didn’t even know we had fake coconuts.”

Fallon also welcomed Captain America himself: Chris Evans, who reprises his role as Marvel’s red-white-and-blue hero in “Avengers 2: Age of Ultron.”

Then Fallon invited Evans’ brother Scott — and his own sister, Gloria Fallon — for a family round of flip cup.

And on the “Tonight Show Shaggy-Off,” Jimmy’s announcer Steve Higgins went head-to-head in a rap battle against the famously loquacious Shaggy. (The Jamaican-born reggae-fusion star recently released his new single, “I Need Your Love.”)

Steve Higgins and Shaggy go head-to-head in a rap battle to determine who’s the better Shaggy.

In his national TV debut, Miami hip-hop star LunchMoney Lewis performed his upbeat tune “Bills” off his newly released EP of the same name.

“The Tonight Show” returns Friday with “Jurassic World” star Chris Pratt and “Avengers 2” actress Elizabeth Olsen.
