Jay Z Finalizes 2-Year Movie and TV Deal with Weinstein Company

In the past, he has been involved with productions such as the remakes of "Annie," "The Great Gatsby" and "Top Five."

Jay Z’s not a businessman, he’s a business, man. Now, he’s dipping his feet in the film industry.

The rapper-turned-multimedia mogul just signed a deal with The Weinstein Company for movie and television production. The two-year contract will give Jay Z the platform to expand his role as a producer on the big and little screens, in both scripted and unscripted projects. In the past, he has been involved with productions such as the remakes of "Annie," "The Great Gatsby" and "Top Five."

"I'm excited to tell stories from real-life prophets, whom through their struggles have changed the world for the better, and others whose stories are filled with fantasy and delight," Jay Z in a press release Thursday. "Harvey and David [Weinstein] are visionaries both of whom have done this time and time again. I'm already passionate about what we currently have in the pipeline and I'm looking forward to discovering others."

A number of projects are already in development and are expected to be announced shortly, Variety reported.
