Uptown Girl Puts Home on Market for Nearly $16M

Christie Brinkley better at buying than selling her Hamptons homes

Christie Brinkley has put her 19th Century Hamptons home on the market for a cool $15.75 million.

The five-bedroom home, with massive white columns in front, sits on 4.5 acres and features more than 300 feet of waterfront, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Brinkley said she’s too busy to maintain the home. “I love fixing up old houses,” she said in a statement. “But my life is so busy between with my children, launching several new businesses and my philanthropy, I just don’t have time.”

The property is one of several on the tip of Long Island that Brinkley accumulated before her bitter breakup with architect Peter Cook, her fourth husband, two years ago.

Property records show that she paid $7.15 million for the house in 2004, the Journal reported. She also owns a home directly across the street that she bought in 2007 for $9.99 million.

Among other holdings on the East End, Brinkley has had a century-old 12-bedroom Bridgehampton compound known as Tower Hill, which has been listed for $30 million since 2007, according to Streeteasy.com. Brokers said Brinkley also purchased a beach front house in Water Mill, N.Y., in 2005 that has been listed in the past, with no sale.

Another ex-husband, singer Billy Joel, has had better luck selling homes - mainly by lowering the price. In February, Joel sold a home on Gibson Lane in Sagaponack for $10 million, less than the $11.625 million he paid for it, and well below the $12.5 million asking price. He is also listing adjacent home for $22.5 million.
