Singer Glen Campbell Diagnosed with Alzheimer's

When Glen Campbell himself began forgetting the lyrics to his classic songs like "By the Time I Get to Phoenix," "Wichita Lineman," and "Rhinestone Cowboy," he and his family knew it was time to come forward with the truth. Campbell is suffering from Alzheimer's.

"Glen is still an awesome guitar player and singer," said Campbell's wife, Kim, in an interview with People. "But if he flubs a lyric or gets confused on stage, I wouldn't want people to think, 'What's the matter with him? Is he drunk?'"

The 75 year-old Grammy winner and Country Music Hall of Famer was diagnosed six months ago, and is coming forward now in advance of a farewell tour planned for later this year.

"I still love making music," says Campbell. "And I still love performing for my fans. I'd like to thank them for sticking with me through thick and thin."
