The R & B singer does have a history of sex scandals, but this time around it's a dead-end rumor.
Put down the cell phone and step away from the Internet.
We don’t care about your tweets or your what bffl has been texting you all day. The rumors end now.
R. Kelly is not in trouble again – not for now, anyway.
Twitter updates and celebrity gossip sites could not calm down Wednesday over a rumor that R&B artist R. Kelly’s Olympia Fields home was being raided on suspicion of a possible underage sex scandal.
Yes, that’s right, another one.
But these rumors were being reported on completely unfounded claims, and Chief Police Jeff Chudwin was quick to shut them down.
"(We) were informed of a possible criminal matter. We investigated the issues, found there to be no crime, and the matters have been closed," Chudwin told the Southtown Star.
Chudwin would not release any further details, saying, "We do not comment on noncriminal matters."
The whole controversy sparked from a Web gossip site that reported an article Wednesday about an police investigation that involved a 16-year-old girl staying in Kelly’s home -- a sticky, sourceless, poorly reported article.
Representatives for Kelly denied the rumors, calling the report “wildly exaggerated and inaccurate.” They said no police ever showed up at Kelly’s home with a warrant and that no such underage girl stayed in his house.
Public records indicate that a no warrant has been executed on Kelly’s home in the past three weeks.
But, oh. Twitter told you the news? We understand your confusion. It's hard to figure since, after all, the Internet never lies.
Think again.
