Chaz Bono's Dancing the Pounds Away: Schwimmer

Chaz Bono is dancing his way to a thinner waist.

Bono's new coach and dancing partner on "Dancing with the Stars," Lacey Schwimmer, told People that Sonny and Cher's son is nearly losing a pound a day.

"He's lost five pounds in six days," the 23-year-old dancer said. "It's so great. He says he's not eating any differently, he's just dancing.

Bono, the first transgender contestant to be featured in the ABC dancing competition, has transformed his attitude as well.

"When I first met him, he didn't want to do anything that made him look silly," Schwimmer said of her 42-year-old partner. "Now he's all for it. He's goofing off and he's pretending to be Maks [Chmerkovskiy] in rehearsals. It's really funny."

But there's one thing Bono refuses to do.

"Chaz has already told me he doesn't want to dance to any of his parents' songs," Schwimmer said. "But the show really wants it to happen, so we'll see."

DWTS faced criticsm for including a transgender person on their show, but Bone, who underwent a gender transition three years ago, said he's determined not to let that bring him down.

"It's made me realize I'm really glad I'm doing this, because America really needs to see this," Bono told ABC News on Friday.

HLN legal pundit Nancy Grace, actor David Arquette, and soccer star Hope Solo will also be trotting across the stage when DWTS premiers September 19th.
