Natasha Richardson's Sister: I Was Shattered By Her Death

"Tash was a given to me," said sis Joely in her first public words since Natasha's death

The sister of Natasha Richardson spoke out for the first time since the actress' shocking death eight months ago and said she thinks of the heartbreaking loss of her big sis everyday.

"I hadn't lived a day in my life without her," actress Joely Richardson told Tatler magazine, according to the Daily Mail. "You worry about your children and your elders, but I never imagined such a thing as this. Tash was a given to me."

The "Nip/Tuck" actress said she and her big sis were "enmeshed in each other" and she was stunned when Natasha, wife of Liam Neeson, died suddenly of complications stemming from a skiing accident last March. She was 45.

"The shock shatters you on a cellular level," Joely, 44, told the magazine. "It takes time for the pieces to come back together."

The younger sister said she was back at work the day after Natasha's funeral in upstate New York, and the grief she felt affected her performance on the set of BBC production "The Day of the Triffids."

"A strange autopilot kicks in," she said. "Your psyche puts your work day into a different compartment from your private life. I'm not kidding -- my first shot back on set was reacting to someone dying."

But the memory of her big sister will continue to dominate her thoughts, Joely said.

"I cannot imagine that there will ever be a day I don't think of Tasha."
