Michael Douglas' Rep Denies Star is Near Death

Oscar-winner's brave fight with throat cancer continues

Michael Douglas' rep is denying a report that the cancer-stricken actor is getting his affairs in order and saying his goodbyes.

Douglas, 66, who recently finished chemotherapy treatment for Stage IV throat cancer,  has not changed his will and is not on his deathbed, contrary to a report in the upcoming edition of Star magazine, his spokesmann said.

"Michael is totally focused on his recovery," Allen Burry told People magazine. "It's been very difficult, [but doctors] "are very pleased with how he responded to treatment. They think he's doing really well. He's doing as well as can be expected."

Grim reports cited the abrupt trip home Douglas' wife Catherine Zeta-Jones made from the Ryder Cup in her native Wales, implying that she left to be with her Oscar-winning husband for his final days. But Burry said Jones' departure was not so urgent, and also denied other claims that painted a dismal picture of Douglas' prognosis.

"Michael hasn't changed his will recently, and he isn't contemplating changing it," said Burry, who also denied a report that Doyglas legendary 93-year-old father, Kirk, and stepmother, Anne, had moved to New York to be by Michael's side.

Douglas, who turned 66 last month, was diagnosed with throat cancer in August. He is appearing in "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps," the long-awaited sequel to "Wall Street," a 1987 film that landed him a best actor Academy Award.

In August, he appeared on David Letterman's "Late Show" and said the treatment "knocks you out really hard."
