Justin Bieber has a digital thing for Missy Franklin and Lady Gaga couldn't contain her crush on the U.S. women's gymnastic team. Celebrities are taking to social media platforms such as Twitter to give support and send congratulations as Team USA strikes gold at the London 2012 Games.

17-year-old gold medalist Missy Franklin has never been shy in professing her Bieber fever. The pop sensation returned the favor Monday when he tweeted Franklin a message after she won gold in the women's 100m backstroke. "Heard @FranklinMissy is a fan of mine," wrote Bieber. "now im a fan of hers too. CONGRATS on winning GOLD! #muchlove."

"Those girls are tearing the floor up for the USA!" tweeted Lady Gaga as she watched Aly Raisman, Jordyn Wieber, Kyla Ross, McKayla Maroney and Gabby Douglas win gold in the women's team gymnastic all-around competition - the first gold medal since the Magnificent Seven's reign at the the 1996 Atlanta Games.

"Go Gabby go!" tweeted Oprah Winfrey during the gymnastics nail-biter. "WOW! What a moment," she added after the win. "The Fab Five!!!!" Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer added her voice to the chorus of praise: "women's gymnastics: THEY ARE TEARING IT UP!!!!"

"Woohoo! Gold for the ladies!" continued Gaga when the placings were apparent. "I just want to squeeze them! So much talent and beauty. Did you see them holding hands? There's no "I" in team."

In an earlier tweet Gaga admitted that the London 2012 Games were making her emotional: "the Olympics is the best ever. but i went through a whole pack of tissues last night. watching hard working athletes achieve their dreams."

The whole planet seemed to be talking about Michael Phelps' gold medal win as part of the men's 4x200m freestyle relay on Tuesday. That first placing vaulted him into the record books by bringing his overall Olympic medal tally to 19, making him the most-decorated Olympian in history. A sporting moment that drove even Presidents to show their social media appreciation.

"Congrats to Michael Phelps for breaking the all-time Olympic medal record," tweeted U.S. President Barack Obama. "You made your county proud."

Also part of the Phelps love-fest were rapper Lil Wayne: "High praises to my good friend Michael Phelps for becoming the greatest Olympian of all time. USA!" and Whoopi Goldberg: "Those kids at the Olympics, the women's gymnastics team and M. Phelps & everyone participating, so amazing & so proud to be represented by u all."
