Sept. 21, 2008: Jeremy Piven -- the king of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series -- attends an HBO afterparty at the Pacific Design Center.
Once again, the date of the Emmys has been changed.
A potential conflict with the NFL forced the academy to move the ceremony to Sept. 13. Unfortunately for anyone writing on a calendar with pen, that date conflicted with the MTV Video Music Awards.
"We had the flexibility to move. They didn't," said Jack Sussman, CBS executive vice president. "It's best for the industry and the audience that these events not compete against each other."
The Emmy planners, who must have friends working for the LA Marathon, said the show will start at 5 p.m.
The start time may be adjusted depending on the NFL broadcast.
Sheesh. It seems the only real Emmy certainty is that Jeremy Piven is a lock for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
