The Chicago Cubs may not be leading the league...but they're winners with an AIDS foundation that received $50,000 from them.
Despite an ongoing drama around the sale of the Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field, the Cubs organization has stepped up to lend a hand to the AIDS Foundation of Chicago.
Chicago Cubs Charities has announced a $50,000 grant to the AIDS organization, part of a total of $150,000 to be awarded to organizations serving Chicago. Distribution of the remaining grant money will be announced at a later date.
The AIDS grant was given in connection with this month's concerts at Wrigley Field. Cubs Charities Vice President Mike Lufrano says neighborhood support for the concerts and concertgoers made the gift possible.
The Wrigley Field concerts have featured Elton John, Billy Joel, Rascal Flatts and Vince Gill.
