Conan Sells Luxury Apartment for Nearly $30M

He's found a new home on television, and now Conan O'Brien has sold his old home on New York's Upper West Side for nearly $30 million.

O'Brien, who pocketed $32 million when he left NBC's "The Tonight Show" under acrimonious terms, unloaded the huge duplex in the Majestic, a co-op across from the fabled Dakota, for something near the $29.5 million asking prices, according to The Wall Street Journal.

O'Brien and wife Elizabeth combined apartments on the 17th and 18th floors into one sprawling duplex with seven bedrooms, three terraces, two libraries, and 8½ bathrooms, according to a listing by John Burger, a broker at Brown Harris Stevens.

Once it closes, the deal will be the most expensive sale ever in the building. Four years ago, George Soros' ex-wife Susan Soros paid $25 million for an apartment on the 19th floor, according to the Journal.

O'Brien agreed last month to headline a new one-hour talk show that will air on TBS  at 11 p.m. Mondays through Thursday starting in November.
