More than 250,000 guests have ridden the Navy Pier Centennial Wheel since it first opened Memorial Day weekend but one guest stands out from the rest.
Singer and song-writer Adele rode the Centennial Wheel not once but twice this week with her 3-year-old son, park officials said Thursday.
“Adele came to Navy Pier not only yesterday but the day before and during her concert last night she mentioned that she had come to Navy Pier and ridden the Centennial Wheel,” Marilynn Gardner, president and CEO of Navy Pier, Inc. told NBC 5's Dick Johnson in a Facebook Live. “She said, 'Oh I was so scared I had to close my eyes. It's 200 feet tall and my son loved it and we had to go back again for a second one.’”
The ferris wheel's operations manager, Clinton Shephard, also confirmed to NBC Chicago Adele’s appearance at the attraction.
Officials noted Adele came to the ride with no entourage- just her and her son.
“She stood in line and purchased the tickets just like everyone else,” Gardner said. "I love that, she’s so very real.”
The Grammy-winning artist's recent album 25 is the only album to sell over three million copies in one week. Adele had a three-night stop in Chicago this week where she performed at the United Center.
