Millennium Park Ice Rink Opens for Season

"With its twinkling tree lights and stunning skyline backdrop, the iconic ice skating rink in Millennium Park is a must-stop each winter season," touts the City of Chicago

It's officially that time of year again, and the annual opening of the McCormick Tribune Ice Rink at Millennium Park proves it.

Starting Friday, skating will be open to the public through March 9, 2015, weather permitting. 

"With its twinkling tree lights and stunning skyline backdrop, the iconic ice skating rink in Millennium Park is a must-stop each winter season," touts the City of Chicago, citing more than 100,000 skaters who make it to the rink each season.

The rink at 201 E. Randolph St., located on Michigan Avenue between Washington and Madison Streets, will offer skate rental for $10 a pair and operate with the following hours:

Seasonal Skating:
Monday-Thursday, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Friday, 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Saturday (Through Jan. 2), 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Saturday (Beginning Jan. 9), 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Sunday, 10 a.m. to  9 p.m.

Special Holiday Hours:
Thanksgiving; Thursday, Nov. 26, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Black Friday; Nov. 27, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Christmas Eve; Thursday, Dec. 24, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Christmas Day; Friday, Dec. 25, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Saturday, Dec. 26 through Wednesday, Dec. 30, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
New Year’s Eve; Thursday, Dec. 31, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
New Year’s Day; Friday, Jan. 1, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day; Monday, Jan. 18, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Lincoln's Birthday; Monday, Feb. 15, 10 a.m to 10 p.m.
