Ghirardelli to Open Its Largest Shop in Wrigley Building

The chocolate and ice cream shop is scheduled to open June 26

Chicago will soon be a must-visit spot for the chocolate-loving traveler.

The chocolatier Ghirardelli is scheduled to open its second Chicago shop — and its largest one yet — in the Wrigley Building this Friday.

The ice cream and chocolate shop will take up two stories — on the first and second floors — and cover 7,300 square feet. It will include indoor seating for 95 people as well as an outdoor patio for up to 25 people.

Inside the shop, customers will be able to taste liquid chocolate from a flowing milk chocolate tap as well as sample the usual favorites — chocolate slabs, ice cream and pick-and-mix bags of treats.

Ghirardelli also created a special "Chicago" ice cream sundae in honor of the grand opening. The sundae will contain chocolate chip ice cream, freshly made Ghirardelli hot fudge and a Ghirardelli "colossal cookie," all topped with whipped cream, caramel and a cherry. The sundae will only be available during the month of July at the Wrigley Building store.

The other Ghirardelli shop in Chicago is located at 830 North Michigan Ave. The two Chicago shops are the chocolatier's only Midwest locations.
