Everybody might go nuts when they find out where they can get the best doughnuts in Illinois, at least according to a new report.
Buzzfeed, using data from Yelp, revealed the most popular doughnut shops in every state. The list was made using a combination of Yelp's star ratings plus the number of reviews for each doughtnut business listed on the site.
The Heart of Europe Cafe in northwest suburban Barrington made the list for Illinois.
The bakery opened last year and has become known for their take on a Hungarian dessert called "chimney cakes" -- dough made from scratch that is hand rolled onto a rod and baked in a special oven before being filled with nutella, honey or peanut butter and covered in sprinkles, oreos or cinnamon and sugar.
The store is owned and operated by Polish sisters Emilia Augustyn and Kasia Mierzejewska.
"One day we just decided to quit our jobs and move to the States to open a pastry shop," said Mierzejewska. "When my sister and I first tried spring donuts we were like 'This is the thing. We have to sell these.'"
The shop also sells paninis, coffee, tea and smoothies, among other beverages.
