Gen. Clark Criticizes Mark Kirk's Military Embellishments

During an endorsement of Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Alexi Giannoulias on Monday, retired four-star Gen. Wesley Clark criticized Giannoulias' opponent Mark Kirk's exagerations about his military career.

"[The exagerations] are a factor in this race," Clark said, standing in front of two electric cars at a Chargepoint electric vehicle charging station at the front of the Millenium Park parking garage.

Earlier this summer, Kirk was embarassed by revelations that he embellished his military record.

Clark is the latest big political name to lend his imprimatur to Giannoulias. President Obama hosted a fundraiser at the beginning of August.

Mark Kirk, meanwhile, recently received the political blessings of Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown.

The candidates are neck-and-neck in recent polls.
