Former Mayor Richard Daley has "cancelled his travel plans indefinitely" in order to stay close to his wife, Maggie Daley, as she continues to battle cancer.
A trip to Harvard University, which had been scheduled for Dec. 1 and 2, is among the cancellations, said longtime Daley spokeswoman Jackie Heard.
Heard said Daley "feels it best to stay near."
A week ago, a planned engagement party for the couple's youngest daughter was ultimately turned into the wedding ceremony itself so that Maggie Daley could fully take part in the festivities.
Chicago's former first lady was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in 2002.
