Will Emanuel Hold a Summit with Opponents?

Many describe Chicago politics as blood sport -- but after the recent November election, opponents decided to uncharacteristically put their differences aside.

U.S. Senator Mark Kirk invited Democratic candidate Alexi Giannoulias to Billy Goats for a beer summit

.

Television stations carried it live.

Then a few weeks later, after all the votes were counted in the tight governor's race,

Gov. Pat Quinn chowed down with GOP candidate Bill Brady at Manny's for a corned beef sandwich

.

Is it a new trend? Will Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel ask his rivals for either a beer or a sandwich?

"We'll see," said Ben Labolt, Communications Director for the Emanuel campaign.  "He's talked to most of them on the phone so far and plans to seek their help taking on the challenges facing the city."

It doesn't sound like they should pencil in any dates anytime soon.
