Greatest Mayor?
Greatest Mayor?

Mayor Richard Daley on Saturday may become Chicago's longest-serving mayor, but he won't be the greatest one.

At least not if you ask him.

"It's not the time you put in, it is the passion you have given to your years of service," he said, according to the Chicago Tribune.

And he said the only reason he is passing his father's longevity is because his father died in office 34 years ago, on Dec. 20, 1976.

"He went through the 50s, 60s and 70s, very interesting, an interesting time of the country," said Daley. "He saw everything from the 50s, 60s and 70s.  That was amazing."

The remarks came Tuesday after DePaul University dedicated a new academic building in his and Maggie Daley's honor.
