Voting Equipment Delivered to Wrong Polling Place

As of 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Cook County election officials said they were sure that at least one polling place would stay open late.

It is not because of the weather, but rather, because of an equipment snafu.

Voting equipment for Richton Park precinct 18, at the Richton Park Community Center, was delivered to another polling place by mistake.

As a result, the precinct opened late Tuesday morning (just before 8 a.m.), and about a dozen voters were turned away.

A spokesman for Cook County Clerk David Orr said the polling place will stay open an extra hour, and that they kept the names and contact information for the voters who could not cast their ballots.

They will be contacted.
