The Ricketts Family's Anti-Obama Movie

It’s too bad Wrigley Field doesn’t have a Jumbotron.

If it did, the Ricketts Family could screen 2016: Obama’s America before every game between now and the end of the season. 2016 is the documentary produced by conservative commentator Dinesh D’Souza, author of The Roots of Obama’s Rage. Both movie and book argue that Obama is a mole for his father’s brand of anti-colonialism, and as a result, will devote his second term to dragging America down to Third World levels, as expiation for the West’s sins against Africa.

What does this have to do with the Cubs? Joe Ricketts, the crusty right-wing billionaire who bought the team for his children, contributed $125,000 of the documentary’s $2.5 million budget. As always, the family that wants public funds to renovate Wrigley has plenty of cash to rail against politicians who spend too much of the public funds.

The movie is currently playing at over a dozen Chicagoland theaters. I’ve only seen the trailers, but judging by its scenes of vengeful Africans and Latinos setting stuff on fire, it looks even more scurrilous than Old Man Ricketts’s proposal for an ad campaign tying Obama to Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Watch the trailer below.
