Steel Producer Relocating to Chicago

A $4 billion steel manufacturer is moving its North American headquarters to Chicago, Gov. Pat Quinn announced in a statement today.

Steel producer Evraz will move it's business center to the city and bring 70 jobs to Illinois, according to the statement.

“Evraz’s decision to move here is one more indication that our business climate and our workforce are attractive to major national and international corporations,” Quinn said in the statement.

The announcement comes less than a week after Quinn signed the Illinois tax hike and a day after the founder of Jimmy John's said he's taking his business out of the state in response to higher taxes.

Evraz employs 4,000 people in Colorado, Delaware, Oregon and in Canada.

Quinn says the move confirms Illinois' economic recovery.
