The Race: Democratic primary for the chance to take on incumbent Joe Walsh of the 8th District. It’s one of the four districts Democrats hope to regain thanks to a new congressional map.
The Competition: Tammy Duckworth
The Buzz: Krishnamoorthi serves as president of Sivananthan Laboratories, a Bolingbrook-based business specializing in night vision military technology, solar cells, biosensors to detect weapons of mass destruction and radiation detectors.
In 2006, he served as the Special Assistant Attorney General to help Attorney General Lisa Madigan launch the Public Integrity Unit. He also served as the Deputy Treasurer for Illinois in the office of Alexi Gianoulias. Krishnamoorthi ran in 2010 for the Democratic primary race for Illinois Comptroller, but lost the nomination to David Miller.
