Gov. Pat Quinn says he told the DNR director to kill a proposed $85K per year Canoe Czar job soon after he learned of it. (Published Friday, Apr 16, 2010)

    No canoes for you!

Gov. Pat Quinn says as soon as he heard about the $85K per year Canoe Czar job he called "the director in plain language and told him its not happening."

The reason: money, honey. Quinn, responding to reporters after launching IDOT's multi-year highway improvement plan, says the state's budget shortfall leaves no room for a waterway chief.

As for Scott Lee Cohen possibly joining the gov race as independent?

Quinn says "whatever he wants to do" is fine with him.
