Democratic Senate Candididate Alexi Giannoulias may want to send the President a note reminding him of their friendship.

It appears Barack Obama forgot momentarily about his basketball buddy.

During a speech Wednesday in Ohio, the Commander-in-Chief mistakenly introduced U.S. Senate candidate Lee Fisher as the next junior senator from Illinois.

"The lieutenant governor and soon-to-be junior senator from the great state of Illinois.. or Ohio.. Lee Fisher is here." He then caught himself and backtracked saying "Yes, I used to hear that line all the time about the senator from Illinois. That would be me."

Giannoulias, the current state treasurer, launched a new ad earlier this week featuring the President, even though most democrats running for office in November are staying away from Obama and his falling approval ratings. Giannoulias is hoping the spot benefits him in his tight race against Kirk, a five-term congressman from Chicago's northern suburbs
