Three more candidates officially cast their hats into the ring for former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.'s vacant seat on Sunday.
Alderman Anthony Beale, Joyce Washington and Dr. Victor Jonathan all made announcements with their intent to run in the primary election taking place on Feb. 26.
Their announcements come only one day before the deadline to file candidacy petitions with 1,256 signatures or more.
Beale serves as the 9th Ward Alderman and filed his petitions on Thursday. He was the youngest alderman when he took office after being elected in 1999.
Washington is a management consultant with a background in health care and job commission.
Dr. Victor O. Jonathan is pastor and successful businessman with a Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautical and atronautical engineering.
All three placed creating jobs for the 2nd Congressional District as their top priority if elected.
Jackson resigned in November after holding the seat for about 17 years. He cited his health and acknowledged that he is under federal investigation.
The general election for the seat is April 9.
