Michelle Obama Comes Home to Chicago Next Week

The popular First Lady will turn up the charm for Democratic donors

Michelle Obama heads home to her native Chicago next week for a Democratic National Committee fundraiser at the Waldorf Astoria.

The First Lady's appearance at the event, being held July 24, coincides with a Beyonce and Jay-Z concert at Soldier Field the same night that she might attend following the DNC donor schmoozefest, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Initially reluctant, Mrs. Obama turned out to be a star money-maker for national Democrats, leveraging her popularity to boost the party's finances and public image. She remains immensely popular in her hometown, and her Windy City visit comes on the heels of President Obama's recent fundraising trips on behalf of the DNC and Ilinois Sen. Dick Durbin.

This week, FLOTUS will be in Los Angeles to speak at a summit for homeless veterans alongside Mayor Eric Garcetti, a Democrat, and will also headline a DNC fundraiser that includes a $5,000-per-person, off-the-record conversation.

Despite rampant speculation, she recently refuted rumors that she was eyeing a senatorial run in her post-White House future.
