Mayor Rahm Emanuel heads back to Pullman on Easter Sunday for a campaign stop at Salem Baptist Church.
The last time the mayor was in Pullman for a big public event, he received an endorsement from President Obama and announced the plans for Chicago's first national park.
Both Emanuel and Jesus "Chuy" Garcia were invited to the South Side church, but only one of them showed up at the event. About 3,000 other people showed up, too, however.
The mayor hopes to bring as many South and West Side supporters to the polls to vote for him Tuesday as possible. The congregation at Salem Baptist gave the mayor a warm enough welcome with a partial standing ovation, but not everyone was on their feet for Emanuel.
Emanuel spoke at the church, namely about education, including his all-day kindergarten success and a decrease in high school drop-out rates.
Later in the afternoon, Emanuel will head to another South Side church: Monument of Faith Church in the Ashburn neighborhood. He is scheduled to speak to this congregation as well.
Garcia stopped by a West Side church Sunday morning for an Easter service, and he will head to Greater Harvest M.B. Church later in the day with the Rev. Jesse Jackson.

After a full day of church services and speeches to congregations, it's likely both candidates will end up at Wrigley Field for the Cubs' home opener tonight, preaching to a different crowd over peanuts and popcorn.
