Kirk Hires Ex-Chris Christie Aide as New Press Secretary

“Sarah thrives in a high-paced environment and is a perfect match for our team,” Kirk said in a statement.

Sen. Mark Kirk named a former aide to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s unsuccessful 2016 presidential campaign as his new press secretary Wednesday.

Sarah Dolan recently served as the Rapid Response Director on Christie’s campaign. Dolan previously served as Christie’s research analyst and deputy press secretary throughout Superstorm Sandy and the governor’s re-election campaign. She joined Christie’s team in 2011.

“Sarah thrives in a high-paced environment and is a perfect match for our team,” Kirk said in a statement.

Dolan joined Kirk’s team at the beginning of May, replacing Danielle Varallo, who is departing to become Associate Director of UnitedHealth Group in Washington, DC.

Kirk is currently locked in a highly-contested race for his Senate seat with Rep. Tammy Duckworth. The two will face-off in the Nov. 8 general election.
