Jackson Jr. Cooperating With Feds: Report

Jesse Jackson Jr. apparently is cooperating with federal investigators as they sift through the former congressman's finances.

Though Jackson hasn't been publicly seen or heard from in months, the Sun-Times' Michael Sneed says Jackson is active in the probe against him, telling the feds everything he knows.

Sneed also says Jackson's brother, Jonathan, is considering a political career, even eying the Chicago mayor's seat. Meanwhile brother Yusef also is looking into a run for office.

It's not clear yet whether either brother will vie for Jackson's old 2nd Congressional seat that he stepped down from last week. If they do, they'll have a lot of competition.

Both Sen. Toi Hutchinson and James Hickey each announced Thursday they will seek the seat.

“Families in the South Suburbs and the South Side deserve a representative who understands their concerns,” Hutchinson said in a statement.

“It’s about time that the people of the 2nd Congressional District had someone who was out of the headlines and instead in the trenches fighting for what the district needs,” Hickey said.

Former Rep. Debbie Halvorson officially threw in her hat on Sunday, the same say Pastor Corey Brooks expressed interest in the seat.

"We need to make sure that the day after the election, someone is going to be there hitting the ground running and make sure we bring back what resources we need for this district," Halvorson said.

Convicted former Rep. Mel Reynolds is in too. "I believe the district has not in fact been served for the last six months," he said. "It needs someone that can go in right away and do the job."

The list goes on, and changes daily. Keep track of it here.
