Ground Stops Prevent Gloria Steinem From Stumping for Quinn

Famed feminist Gloria Steinem was among thousands of travelers affected by Friday's Chicago airport ground stops prompted by a fire at an air control center in Aurora.

Steinem was scheduled to be in Chicago to stump for Gov. Pat Quinn Friday.

She was supposed to attend an event kicking off the Women for Quinn group as well as a downtown fundraiser.

Quinn is hoping to attract more women votes in the ultra-competitive race against Republican Bruce Rauner.

A new poll this week from We Ask America shows Quinn leading Rauner among women, 44-42 percent, while Rauner commands a larger male following, 47-36 percent.

An official with Quinn's campaign said Steinem's visit will be rescheduled for sometime in October.
