Alderman Bob Fioretti suggested on election night he would endorse Jesus "Chuy" Garcia in the race for mayor.
Now, however, Fioretti says he's holding off any mayoral announcement until next week.
Fioretti met privately Monday with both Garcia and Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
Fioretti's spokesman Michael Kolenc says the former mayoral candidate wants to know "how will you pay for things" especially in terms of Garcia's promise to hire 1,000 new police officers.
Kolenc says that Fioretti had "very good meetings with the mayor and commissioner" as they "talked about the future of our city and the financial problemsn we face."
