Emanuel was running late to meet up with volunteers so he could take his kids to breakfast. But volunteers didn't mind.
They were chanting, "Rahm's our man" as he walked in. Whitney Houston's "I Want To Dance With Somebody" was playing on a boombox.
"I did not think there was enough energy in here so I brought some sugar," Emanuel joked, yielding Dunkin' Donuts.
"The thing that gives me the strength to keep going is love people have for this city," he said.
During the brief, 10-minute visit, Emanuel warned volunteers the race wasn't won yet.
On the way out, Emanuel was asked about Wisconsin's unrest. He said his approach is not comparable to the Wisconsin governor's actions and called what is going on there "politics."
There is no respect in the Wisconsin situation, he said.
