Score another one for Rahm Emanuel.
The internation mayor of Chicago landed another major event to go along with the G8 and Nato Summits.
The mayor announced Thursday that the 12th World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates will take place in Chicago April 23-25 at the University of Illinois at Chicago. This marks the first time the summit will be held in North America.
Organizers say the summit is co-chaired by former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev and former Rome Mayor Walter Veltroni.
Emanuel said Chicago's selection reflects the city's profile as an international leader.
It probably didn't hurt that Nobel laureate President Barack Obama is from Chicago.
The summit's theme will be "Speak Up, Speak Out for Freedom and Rights."
