Duckworth For 8th District?

The woman who turned down Gov. Pat Quinn to be his Lt. Governor candidate may be setting her sights on Congress.

Veterans Affairs Assistant Secretary Tammy Duckworth resigned her post on Monday, signaling to some that she's eying a redistricted seat.

Duckworth recently ruled out running for a U.S. Senate seat in her home state of Hawaii. Though her husband, Major Brian Bowlsbey, now lives in Washington D.C., the couple has kept their Hoffman Estates home. That could mean she's interested in the newly drawn 8th District, which was taken by Republicans in 2010 when Joe Walsh ousted Melissa Bean.

Democrat Raja Krishnimorthi has already announced his interest in the district as well, reports the Sun-Times' Lynn Sweet.

Duckworth lost to Rep. Peter Roskam in 2006 in a close race for the House in the 6th Congressional District, but should be in a much better position this time around, considering her recent experience in administrative roles.
