The Buzz: As mayor of Blue Island since 1985, Donald Peloquin says his 25-plus years of experience makes him well-qualified for the Congressional seat. He points to his experience negotiating the first union contracts in Blue Island history and organizing a joint action group to keep St. Francis Hospital open as Metro South Medical Center to save jobs. In 2004, Peloquin proposed the secession of Cook County South Suburbs in hopes for a formation of a new county. Peloquin says he's focused on economic recovery, re-investing in communities and creating a more efficient government.
