The Buzz: Dee Beaubien, widow of late Republican Representative Mark Beaubien, chose to run her campaign as an Independent in opposition to the partisan politics she believes has taken over her district. She serves as trustee of the Hospice Foundation of Northeastern Illinois and advisory board member for the Barrington Area Council on Aging and Barrington Youth Services.
Beaubien has been criticized by her opponent for registering as a Republican but running her campaign as an Independent.
