The Buzz: Debra Shore originally was elected as Water Reclamation District Commissioner in 2006. Shore helped launch Chicago WILDERNESS Magazine in 1997 and has continued to publish essays since. She is a leader in the regional conservation consortium, “Chicago Wilderness,” an organization dedicated to protecting nature, and is one of the original founders of “Friends of the Forest Preserves.” In an aside, Shore told the Chicago Tribune that she has climbed 42 of the 54 mountains in Colorado more than 14,000 feet high.
