Debbie Halvorson has news for incumbent Jesse Jackson Jr. regarding his recent endorsement from Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.
"Last time I checked, Nancy Pelosi doesn't vote in the 2nd Congressional District," said Halvorson in a press conference following Pelosi's announcement on Saturday.
Halvorson, who running against incumbent Jackson in the Democratic primary, used her press conference to address the endorsement and campaigning in the newly redrawn 2nd District.
Pelosi is the latest of high profile Democratic party members to endorse Jackson's reelection. She endorsed Halvorson in 2010 against Adam Kinzinger, who won that race.
Halvorson is not as concerned with high profile names backing her in this race and made that clear during her press conference.
"The only people that matter in this election, are the people, and it's going to be the people that are the reason I'm going to win this race," she said.
Halvorson and Jackson have gone head to head over his affair with a model, her voting record while in office and their original battle over the proposed airport near Peotone.
With the primaries in only a few weeks, both candidates continue to pull out all the stops.
