Daley Says Parents Must Keep Kids Safe

Richard Daley Tuesday said keeping Chicago kids safe during spring break is a joint effort between home, city and schools.

First and foremost, though, it's a parent's job to keep their kids safe during school down time.

"That's your number one responsibility," Daley said at a press conference announcing new spring programs. "You brought them into this world, you need to keep them safe."

Daley suggested parents spend time taking advantage of free programs around the city, like libraries, Lincoln Park Zoo, or the lakefront.

"Play a game of catch," he said.
