The Candidate: Christian L. Mitchell
The Race: Democratic Primary for the chance to take on opponent Kenny Johnson for the 26th Congressional District of Illinois.
The Competition: Kenny Johnson
The Buzz: Christian Mitchell says he has the experience to understand what people need. He worked as a community organizer, with single mothers, failing schools and battling health care costs. Mitchell has been working to create a universal fare card for transit systems between Chicago and the South Suburbs. He plans for this proposal to allow transfers between Metra, CTA and Pace by 2015.
Rahm Emanuel stated that he endorses Mitchell, and described Mitchell as being “dedicated” to fiscal responsibility. In 2010, he was a deputy field director for the Lisa Madigan re-election campaign and was also a campaign manager for Will Burns to win Alderman of the 4th Ward in 2011.
