Sen. Dick Durbin's re-election campaign gets a boost this month from a big-name guest.
Vice President Joe Biden will headline a fundraiser on Nov. 25 for Durbin, Ward Room confirmed.
Tickets to the event begin at $2,500 per person and will benefit in part the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
Durbin, the U.S. Senate's second most-powerful Democrat, is seeking a fourth term. A successful re-election bid would put him in Washington through 2020.
Senator Jim Oberweis said last month he plans to make a run again for the Senate seat now held by Durbin.
"Though a number of groups had encouraged me to run for the U.S. Senate against Dick Durbin, I had pretty much decided not to," Oberweis said, "believing it to be almost impossible to win. Then Ron Gidwitz contracted a poll. ... The results stunned me."
Oberweis has run twice for U.S. Senate and once for governor.
