Runner's World: Almonds Curb Hunger

According to research out of Purdue University, almonds are a good snack choice to keep you feeling fuller longer.

The study compared two groups: one that ate almonds daily and another that avoided nuts entirely for a month. Researchers found that the first group felt less hungry between meals and did not gain weight over the course of the study.

Almonds have a combination of protein, monounsaturated fat and fiber that helps keep you feeling full, and they're a good source of Vitamin E (a tough to get heart healthy nutrient) too.

It sounds like a great pre-run snack!

Personally, I make a trail mix of almonds, walnuts, cashews, and chocolate chips, and that serves as a great source of protein throughout the day.
