Love running, the lakefront, and Big Ten sports? Then the BTN Big 10K is just the race for you! The third annual BTN Big 10K will be held on July 26, 2014, at Soldier Field, and registration just opened earlier this week. Be one of the first 1,500 to sign up and you'll get a free gallon tin of Garrett's Popcorn!

The nationally televised 10K and 5K run/walk drew 13,000 participants last year from 43 states and 5 different countries, and the event is expected to sell out this year, so if you're thinking about doing it, don't delay. The race itself is themed around the Big Ten conference-- participants are asked to wear their school's colors as they compete, and with Rutgers and University of Maryland joining on July 1, there will soon be 14 institutions to celebrate.

The lakefront course starts at Soldier Field and ends at a giant Tailgate Party, celebrating the kickoff of college football season. Plenty of former varsity student-athletes will be representing their alma maters, and the mascots will be roaming around as well. Show your pride and if you've got the most spirit, you could even win a prize.

Participants will all receive a shirt, a finisher's medal, and a beer at the afterparty, which will have plenty of music, food, and games to go around. Registration for adults is $48 for the 10K and $38 for the 5K. For children 12 and under, registration is $25 for the 5K. For more information, check out the website and register here
