CNBC reports that new memberships hit a low point from June through August -- excluding clubs with pools or tennis courts.
The average rate for a gym fee is $49, but summertime can often bring rates much lower.
Also keep an eye out for an increase in trial club memberships and deals from businesses like Groupon that allow you to try before you permanently buy.
